Curriculum vitae

Jordi Miró obtained his PhD (1993) in Health Psychology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Following postdoctoral training at the U. of Pittsburgh, U. of Washington, and New York University (1994-1995), he returned to Spain and joined the faculty in the Department of Psychology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1996), the Universitat de les Illes Balears (1997-1998) and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV; 1999-) were he was promoted to full professor in 2009 and has served as director of the Master program in Health Psychology since 2000. In 2012 he received the URV's RQR Award for quality in research, and an ICREA-Acadèmia excellence in research award in 2014 and 2020 from the Catalan government, for his studies in pediatric pain. He is founder and director of the Unit for the Study and treatment of Pain – ALGOS (2000-) and of the Chair in Pediatric Pain (2015-) at URV. He has been the principal or co-investigator of over 20 research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and the Catalan Government, in relation to studies to examine the epidemiology of chronic pain in childhood, the factors involved in the development and maintenance of chronic pain in children, and the assessment and treatment of chronic pain, including the use of new technologies (particularly mobile applications). He has also published over 190 articles in peer-reviewed journals, written 15 chapters and written or edited 4 books, all on the topic of health and chronic pain [h-Index: 43; i10-index: 117,  7801 Citations (Google Scholar); ORCID iD: 0000-0002-1998-6653].He is founding member of the Spanish Pain Society, and the Coordinator of the Special interest group in pediatric pain. He is Councilor of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
