IN-ChildPain Survey on the assessment of chronic pain in children
The IN-ChildPain Survey on the assessment of chronic pain in children is provided by the International Network on Chronic Pain in Childhood, funded from the ERA-NET NEURON Consortium (PI: Jordi Miró; Co-PI: E. Pogatzki-Zahn). The survey is aimed at practitioners affiliated with chronic pain clinics/programs.
The aim of the survey is to identify how healthcare professionals address outcome assessment in their in- and out-patient programs for the management of chronic pain in children. The data collected will help to inform the development of a guide for an European international pain registry for children with chronic pain.
What participants are asked to do: participants in this study are be asked to respond to questions related to their work with children and adolescents with chronic pain. Completing the survey may take less than 5 minutes. Reminder emails will be sent to complete the survey after the first, second, and third weeks from the original invitation, the survey will close after 4 weeks.
Benefits and risks: participants will not receive any direct benefit from participating in this study. However, the data we obtain from their participation will help us to improve our understanding about the assessment of children and adolescents with chronic pain. There is no risk associated with participation in this study.
Voluntariness: Participation in this study is voluntary. Participants may discontinue participation in the study or future related studies by withdrawing their consent at any time, without justification being required. In this case, the data cannot be deleted to ensure the validity of the results and to comply with the legal obligations applicable to the study, but they will be encoded in such a way that it is not possible to link them to you.
Confidentiality and data protection: The information collected will be treated confidentially in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation). The data collected for the study will be identified by a code and only the PI or his collaborators will be able to link the data to the participants. Participants will be not identified in any report, presentation or publication arising from this study. Therefore, their identity will not be disclosed to any person except as required by the Ethics Committee to which the study is submitted in order to verify the study data and procedures. All information collected on participants in the framework of this study will be kept strictly confidential and will be subject to appropriate security measures to ensure, in addition to its confidentiality, its integrity, availability, authenticity, and traceability.
Study’s approval: This study has been reviewed and approved by the Human Participants Review Committee of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili by way of a waiver, as this project was regarded as program evaluation and not human research.
